Our client approached us with a task to create a modern, responsive website with robust online event management functionality, blog section and newsletter management feature, integrated with Mailchimp.
Golf is one of the pillars of the foundation, therefore main color theme is based on the combination of green, white and dark navy blue. Donation button was implemented in bright yellow and fixed in the main menu thus attracting necessary attention, without clogging the design.
Website has a standard blog/news section, with calendar and search options. Event scheduling and mangament was one of the key requirements which were implemented via WordPress plugin.
Jon R Stricker Golf Foundation is a non-profit organization and thus with every endeavor, new web-site included, one of the priorities is to avoid putting unnecessary strain on the budget. The organization already had a web presence that they wanted to keep, a fairly low-end box, sufficient enough to sustain the old website – done in plain HTML, running on an Apache web server.
With the new web-site in the offing, existing infrastructure could become a hobbling impediment and moving to a new machine would, without a doubt, require additional time and money. In order to achieve stable performance on the client’s current stack our team decided to switch from then present Apache server to Nginx. It was a particular challenge tweaking both – Nginx and MySQL server configurations, adjusting for better performance and load balancing, and we are glad to have helped our client keep the project on budget.
